Techniques | Modalities

Together with you we create the possibility for change and a pathway towards optimal health. People ask me all the time how I do what I do and what it feels like. Honestly, that is a really tough question to answer but I think I’ve found a way to express it.

The Healing Touch

The very oldest way of healing is touch, a connection between the hand and the heart. But we have been trained to look and listen for a diagnosis and cure, to connect the hands to the mind. At first it feels a little strange to lay hands on someone and encourage the life in them. Many have said they felt as if something in them had always wanted to touch their loved ones in this way, to be touched in this way, and they couldn’t think of a way to do it without being embarrassed. It’s not just physical touch. It’s more about the sense of belonging, of  occupying a level playing field, a shared vulnerability and a shared strength. The experience I have, is, you greet the life in someone. You accept its present shape,  accept it as it is. You recognize its holiness. After a hands-on healing, you never see the person you work with in the same way again. To be of service is to make whole in some way. Service. It’s more of a grace. It’s very close to love, but a very pure kind of love. A befriending of the life in others, unconditionally.

Paraphrased from an interview of Rachel Naomi Remen with Peter Warshall in 'Whole Earth Magazine' (Summer 2000)

In most sessions I incorporate a number of different modalities to treat a variety of health and pain conditions, from neck and back pain to learning disabilities in one form or another. It is not necessarily that I use all of the different modalites every time. Rather, I listen to your body and incorporate the modalities as needed to assess and treat varying conditions. Used in conjunction with other therapies, my work can:

  • Stimulate your body’s self-healing abilities
  • Improve your circulation and increase blood and oxygen flow
  • decrease chronic and acute pain
  • stimulate the flow of lymphatic fluid, eliminating toxins and cellular debris
  • assist with treatment of chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia
  • ease anxiety and depression
  • encourage restful sleep
  • stimulate organ function
  • increase your alertness and mental clarity
  • restore emotional balance
  • promote relaxation and an improved sense of well-being

To achieve optimum results, we practice many different forms of bodywork. Modalities we offer include:

  • Craniosacral Therapy (CST)—a gentle form of bodywork that uses light touch to release tensions deep in the body
  • Lymphatic Drainage Therapy (LDT)—a technique that focuses on specific lymph nodes and points of the body to generate the flow of lymph fluid and promote a healthier body
  • Myofacial Release (MFR)—a soft tissue technique that releases muscular and connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain, restore mobility and enhance well-being
  • Visceral Manipulationa soft manual technique that encourages normal mobility, tone and motion of the viscera and their connective tissues, improving organ function and the body’s structural integrity
  • Muscle Release Techniquea unique injury therapy that combines compression, extension, movement, and breath to provide relief from pain
  • Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilizationan advanced form of soft tissue mobilization that uses sound-assisted instruments to detect and treat scar tissue
  • Aston Massagea specialized technique using a three-dimensional touch that helps to release functional holding patterns from surface to bone
  • Reikia Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing
  • Theta Healinga technique that focuses on an individual’s intuitive abilities to bring about spontaneous physical and emotional healing
  • Cosmodica new energy healing technology that is capable of helping your body not only heal, but also regenerate
