ThetaHealing® is a technique that works with meditative and focused thought, helping clients to use their natural intuition in physical and emotional healing. The technique is named ThetaHealing® because it utilizes the theta brainwave state; the very deep relaxed state used in hypnosis or the one you may recognize on your children’s faces as they fall into a trance while playing video games. Theta brainwaves govern the part of our minds between the conscious and unconscious and can be thought of as the subconscious. It is within the subconscious that memories and sensations are held along with attitudes, beliefs and behaviors. It is also within the subconscious mind that true and lasting changes can be made and where ThetaHealing takes place.

Theta Healing provides us with a means of accessing the subconscious mind to understand our personally imposed limitations and then a method to change them.

Theta is a wonderful modality and I have found that I’m most comfortable offering it as a part of a bodywork session. Thus, I only provide Theta Healing sessions within the scope of bodywork sessions.

    ThetaHealing: Why It Works

“Energy Flows where attention goes.” Unknown

These days, it’s no secret that there is mounting scientific evidence that toxic emotion can contribute to disease. With the growing awareness that emotions, feelings and the power of thought have a direct bearing upon our physical health, there is increasing interest in changing how the mind influences the body to create optimum health. To find out more about this, just search for the power of thought in your internet browser and you will come with millions of hits.

To fully understand how we can access those emotions and feelings and change them, we must first understand that our knowledge of the world and of how we fit in it is made up of beliefs we gathered as we grew up: opinions or convictions that we have come to believe as truths. Those beliefs came from our families, teachers, friends, siblings, television, books, radio and even the computer. We hold tightly to many of those beliefs because they make us feel safe or happy but sometimes there are deep feelings lodged in our subconscious that are the result of negative beliefs we learned or even trauma. This is important to realize because what we believe influences the kinds of thoughts we have on the conscious and unconscious level as well as our behaviors and our relationships with others and the world. Scientists have shown that 88% of our brain activity is subconscious while only 12% is conscious. You can see how our subconscious plays a powerful role in the results we will experience in life.

Once I discovered and was fully introduced to Theta Healing, I found it really supported everything else I do with my clients. So now, when appropriate, I like start my sessions with a little belief work. Having the subconscious mind in alignment with the conscious world is really wonderful and essential when attempting to heal. Working together to release limiting beliefs empowers people with the ability to remove and replace negative emotions, feelings and thoughts with positive, beneficial ones. With ThetaHealing as our method of change, we can use science, meditation and thought to identify and transform limiting beliefs that are held in the subconscious mind.

    ThetaHealing: History

ThetaHealing® was designed in 1995 by Vianna Stibal, a naturopath, massage therapist and intuitive reader. Stibal used her technique to treat her own cancer in her right femur, and found that she was soon cancer-free. Curious to understand why the technique was working, Vianna solicited the help of a physicist and with an electrocephalograph discovered that the simple technique tapped Theta waves. Over many years of practicing the technique, Vianna believes the technique utilizes a Theta wave to achieve an instant healing. Through thousands of clients she discovered not only an amazing way to connect with the creative energy that moves in all things, but that this energy could change instantly Beliefs and Feelings that are linked to sickness.
